Grandparenting - The Science of Installing A Child Car Seat Child Restraint Not a Snap Installation

Wow! Janet and I will soon be the proud grandparents to a beautiful child, a gift from the loving union of our daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Greg. Who would have thought it would be to learn more. And learn again about the care of babies and children! So much to consider and prepare before the baby arrives. All parents and grandparents must first ensure the safety diligently for their grandchildren.

Car trips do not even - for your little munch-kin, or thinkgrand-child to save for a quick trip to the corner without first ensuring that your child / baby car seat restraint is properly installed.

But I installed the car seat according to the manufacturer's User's Manual. It is installed properly! Think again!

These manuals do not always give you the complete picture for the best car seat installation. Looking for additional help from sites like NHTSA - National Highway Transportation SafetyAssociation and Transport Canada. Watch your newspaper, local TV, or listen to local radio for regularly scheduled car seat clinics from your local emergency, fire or police co-ordinated. Or visit a child seat inspection station near you. Whether you are a parent and as a new grand-parents, you owe it to your child or grand-child, to ensure that it properly in every vehicle they are transported secured.

Recently I've been on such a car seatClinic with my soon-to-deliver daughter. We have my vehicle - but it should be all vehicles that transport this precious human cargo. The 1 hour to install and reinstall, turned out the child in my seat, back seat, how little I knew about proper car seat installation. The Emergency Response professionals in this free clinic were diligent in ensuring a range of key elements of the installation:

1) Child must be installed in the rear-facing position on the backseat of the car. Not! Not every installation, you should have a child or child restraint system in the passenger seat! Repeat, NEVER!

2) The seat with the car seat belt system or factory-installed UAS anchor rods be secured (restraint clips between the backrest and seat and hiding) are separated by a visible symbol. FH anchor bars are in all vehicles since 1 Built September, 2002. All> Car new car seats have 2 U.S. connectors that come with this child restraint system. And it is not just a simple click and quick tug of the belt will do. It will carry all of your adult weight and strength to face down on the car to sit down and tighten the belt anchor or strap.
